Ridley grad Matt Ward, who earned Juco First-Team All-American honors the past two years as an LSM at Harford Community College, has committed to play at Cabrini College.
Ward, an All-American and All-Phillylacrosse.com pick in 2012, led Harford to the Region XX Semifinals this year where it fell to top-seeded CCBC Essex, 16-15.
Ward collected 103 groundballs and 31 caused turnovers as well as four goals and three assists in just 11 regular season games in 2014. In 2013, his stats were equally impressive as he garnered 119 ground balls, 15 goals and six assists and and was second on the team in faceoffs with .543 percentage (63 of 116 faceoffs) in 16 games.
Ward will come to a Cabrini team that went 17-2 and was ranked among the top 10 Division III teams most of the season. The Cavaliers continued its dominance of the CSAC in 2014, earning their 14th consecutive conference championship.
On the way, Cabrini tied an NCAA record with its 102nd consecutive CSAC victory. The team also made the program’s ninth consecutive appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
