The “Bread and Butter” team of Morgan “Bread” Lamey (four goals, one assist) and Alexandria “Butter” Mash (six goals) combined to lead Charter to a 13-9 win over host Polytech Saturdfay in the quarterfinals of the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls Lacrosse Tournament.
“This was an amazing win,” said Charter Head Girls Lax Coach Cindy DePrisco. “We knew how great Polytech is as they were ranked third in the state.
“Lexi Mash and Morgan Lamey look for each other while they are out on the field help and they all help each other.”
“We had a good week of practice and we prepared ourselves for Polytech,” said Lamey. “Our coach has conditioned us very well.
“Our coach always says to feed it back to the net and look for a good shot.”
For the Lady Panthers who finished their season at 11-4, Allison McKay led with five goals and Jamie Trabaudo added three goals and one assist.
Archmere 13, Tower Hill 12
Four goals by Katelyn Payne, and three each by Amanda Olsen and Kennedy Murphy paced the Lady Auks of Archmere (14-2) to a win over the Lady Hillers of Tower Hill (10-6). For the Lady Hillers, Abigail Manning led with five goals, while Madaline Schwartz had three and Kiva Walsh two.
On Tuesday, Charter will play Archmere at a site to be determined.
Cape Henlopen 20, Caesar Rodney 6
The four time defending Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association Lady Vikings from Cape Henlopen High School (11-5) got four goals from Allie Yeager and Sarah Tappen, three from Kat Judge and two from Jordan Brown. The Riders (9-7) were led by Kourtney Olsen and Delaney Steele with goals each.
Ursuline Academy 17, Caravel Academy 16
In an upset, Maddie Hughes scored the game winning overtime goal as the Lady Raiders of Ursuline Academy earned an overtime win over the 5th-seeded Lady Buccaneers of Caravel Academy. Laura Hurff led the Lady Raiders with five goals.
