Villanova men’s lacrosse Head Coach Mike Corrado and his staff are set to welcome the addition of 10 student-athletes for the 2014-15 academic year.
The Class of 2018 features five all-america selections, four all-state honorees, nine all-conference performers and includes a mix of four attackmen, four midfielders and two defensemen. Additionally, the incoming freshmen class features seven multi-sport athletes while eight have earned academic honors during their high school careers.
Joining the Wildcats this fall are Kieran Byrnes (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City), Sean Cerrone (Huntington, N.Y./Chaminade), Christian Cuccinello (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes), Sean Delaney (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill), Max Derham (Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy), Nick Ellis (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford), Charlie Horning (Laytonsville, Md./Georgetown Prep), Luke Palmadesso (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown), Danny Siebel (Wakefield, Mass./Belmont Hill) and Matt Wysota (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade).

#26 Sean Delaney
Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill
Defense – 5’11”, 185 lbs.
Springside Chestnut Hill: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Michael DelGrand, where he served as a two-year team captain and collected 198 ground balls and caused 92 turnovers… Also earned two varsity letters at Wissahickon High School… Named the team best defenseman in 2012 at Springside Chestnut Hill… 2010 Suburban One All-League Honorable Mention selection… 2010 Wissahickon High School Rookie of the Year… Also earned five varsity letters in ice hockey and was a two-time team MVP… Travel ice hockey team was ranked No. 1 in the nation at the midget AA level… Four-year member of the Honor Roll.

Doylestown, Pa./Germantown Academy
Attack/Midfield – 6’2″, 175 lbs.
Germantown Academy: Earned three varsity letters under head coaches Dave Martin and Brian Grady… Registered 115 career points via 72 goals and 43 assists… Earned the 2014 Inter-AC George Kruse Memorial Award… Also lettered in football and basketball as a forward and wide receiver.
Personal: Born August 2nd 1996 in Edinburgh, Scotland… Parents are John and Michele Derham… Siblings are Margo and Gavin… Father, John, is the current Villanova men’s lacrosse volunteer assistant coach and was a member of the team from 1984-88… Both parents are Villanova alumni… Undeclared major.
#17 Nick Ellis
West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford
Midfield – 5’9″, 175 lbs.
West Deptford: Earned four varsity letters under head coach Mike Yarusso… Named to the 2014 All-South Jersey team… Was a 2014 and 2012 all-conference selection… Also attended St. Joseph’s Prep (Pa.) for two years where he helped lead the team to a District 12 championship and a PIAA state championship appearance… Earned Principal’s List distinction all four years of high school.

Attack – 5’11”, 170 lbs.
Garden City: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Steve Finnell where he registered 22 goals and 17 assists during his senior season… Helped guide Garden City to two New York state championships… Named a 2014 all-conference selection… Selected as the attack MVP at Project 9.9… Also named a Maverick Showtime all-star… Also a member of the Business Honor Society and stock market club… Earned Principal’s List honors.

Midfield – 5’11”, 190 lbs.
Chaminade: Tallied 34 goals and 14 assists as a senior at Chaminade under head coach Jack Moran… Registered 45 goals and 50 assists as a varsity lacrosse player… Helped lead the team to a 15-3 overall mark in 2014… 2014 US Lacrosse All-American… Named a 2014 Under Armour All-American, where he played for the North Team in the annual event… Also played in the Under Armour Underclass Lacrosse Classic… Named an All-Long Island selection… Team MVP… Also played quarterback and served as captain of the team while earning all-league and MVP honors… Four-year member of the Honor Roll.

Mountain Lakes: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Tim Flynn and was chosen as the NJILCA Coaches Associate New Jersey Player of the Year and US Lacrosse All-American… Also served as team captain and set a Mountain Lakes single-season scoring record with 69 goals and 39 assists for 108 points… Ranks 3rd in Mountain Lakes history for career goals and is 4th all-time in career points… Named the Newark Star Ledger and Morris Daily Record Player of the Year… Chosen as the Gibbs Conference Co-Player of the Year… 1st Team All-New Jersey honoree… Named MSG Varsity Top-5 Athlete in 2013-14… 2013 Underclass Under Armour All-American… Named Mountain Lakes Most Outstanding senior student-athlete… Also lettered in basketball and football where he was an all-state and all-conference selection and served as a team captain… Member of the Spanish National Honor Society and Merit Roll.

Chaminade: Earned two varsity letters under head coach Jack Moran and registered 53 ground balls and scored two goals in his senior season… Helped lead the team to back-to-back CHSAAA Championships… 2014 All-Catholic League selection… Also lettered in football and led the team to a CSHAAA Championship in 2013… Member of the National Honor Society and four-year member of the Honor Roll.
