From Press Release
The Shipley School, in partnership with the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), are excited to announce that first-year Wing Kyle Buchanan has joined The Shipley School coaching staff effective immediately.
Buchanan will be coaching the sixth grade and Middle School lacrosse teams and working with the varsity program as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator while helping to develop the overall program.
As a first-year Wings player, Buchanan is on a scoring tear in the NLL with 38 pts on 14g, 24a. Buchanan had a standout career at the NCAA level as a four-year starter for Div. I Robert Morris, where he is still the all-time assist leader. Buchanan was a three-time all conference player while at Robert Morris and is the only Colonial in school history to currently rank among the all-time top 10 in points, ground balls, and caused turnovers.
“Having someone with Kyle’s experience and expertise join our staff is obviously great for the program,” said Shipley Athletic Director and lacrosse coach Mark Duncan. “Kyle has coached youth lacrosse for years in Canada as well as a recent stint coaching NCAA lacrosse at Div. III Wilmington College (Ohio). Kyle brings something special to our Shipley lacrosse players of all ages that should help them take their game to the next level. “
Buchanan will join a highly successful Shipley program and coaching staff featuring: Head Coach Mark Duncan, who played collegiately at Lehigh University, Dave Rauch, a former standout for Denison University, former St. Joseph’s University goaltender Travis McDonnell, and former Wings and MLL star, and former All-American at Duke University, David Stilley.
The Shipley School, a Pre-K through grade 12 day school founded in 1894 is located in Bryn Mawr, PA and has been the class of the Friends Schools League in boys’ lacrosse in recent years, winning five consecutive league titles during an ongoing thirty-five game league winning streak. Outside of league play, Shipley boys’ lacrosse has enjoyed much success, amassing a 126-47 record since 2005. During that time, the program has produced two All-State performers, and one All-American, while accumulating the only seven lacrosse titles in 20-plus years of boys’ lacrosse played in school history
