From Press Release
The National 175, which is hosting its fall showcase this Sunday at Avon Old Farms, is pleased to announce that it will be making a donation to The One Love Foundation in honor of Yeardley Reynolds Love.
During the holiday season, the National 175 takes great pride in identifying worthy causes and making contributions to these worthy causes. The hope is that in some small way the donation is helpful to others and that it brings attention to these very worthy causes with their efforts to create more awareness for them.
“In our first Fall showcase in 2012, we proudly donated money, raised money, and held a food drive to support Hurricane Sandy victims by giving to the ‘Comfort Initiative.’ In the Fall of 2013, we donated money to support the Navy Seal Foundation at both our fall showcases and again during our Best of the Best showcase on July 4th weekend. Today, we are proud to say that we are going to make a donation to support the One Love Foundation,” stated Marty Sands, founder of the National 175 showcases.
As described on joinonelove.org
“The One Love Foundation was created in 2010 following the death of Yeardley Love, a UVA senior who lost her life to relationship violence at the hands of her ex-boyfriend just three weeks shy of
graduation. Originally created to honor “Yards” and draw attention to student athletes like her who contribute positively to their teams and communities, the organization now seeks to make people aware about the warning signs of relationship violence – educating, empowering, and activating them in a movement to change the statistics.”
Marty Sands explains, “Our showcase and event business is not merely an economic endeavor but it is also a platform that involves young, impressionable athletes and while they are fiercely competitive, they are also very eager to learn. It is our hope that by demonstrating at our events the importance of giving back, being charitable, making donations, we are in some small way helping to mold their character.”
Along with their donation, they also encourage you to make a private donation to the One Love Foundation by visiting http://www.joinonelove.org/ in an effort to prevent relationship and dating violence.
