Monday’s boys’ roundup: GA, SCHA, Lawrenceville, Hun School advance in Inter-Ac Invitational

Max Derham had five goals and an assist and freshman Justin Connors scored three goals to lead host Germantown Academy to a 14-7 victory over Westtown School Monday in the first round of the Inter-Ac Lacrosse Invitational.

GA (11-8) led 12-2 at halftime.

The sixth-seeded Patriots will play at Inter-Ac rival Episcopal Academy (third seed) in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Clay McKee and Matt Munts each had three goals for Westtown (8-3).

Springside Chestnut Hill 17, Academy of the New Church 4

Mike Bown had five goals and two assists and Tasso Karras added four goals and three assists to power SCHA to the Inter-Ac Invitational win.

The Devils (8-13) advance to play at No. 2 Haverford School on Wednesday.

James Vandergrift had three goals and an assist for ANC (13-3).

Lawrenceville School (NJ) 15, Shipley School 1

Jon Coffey scored four goals to lead the host Big Red (9-8) past the Gators (7-12) in the first round of the Inter-Ac Invitational.

Robert Cooleen added two goals and three assists while Wyatt Rancourt had three goals for the fifth-seeded Big Red. Lawrenceville will play at fourth-seeded Penn Charter in the quarterfinals on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

For Shipley, Pete Moeller scored off a Nick Gonzalez feed, Ian Walsh had 13 saves, Gonzalez had six groundballs and four take-aways and Chris Verdeur added four groundballs.

Hun School (NJ) 8, Hill School 7, OT

Cole West scored with 2:16 left in overtime to lift Hun (13-4) over the Blues (6-9).

West scored twice and Black added a goal and two assists. Brendan Black tallied a goal and an assist while Jon Levine made 12 saves in the victory.

St. Augustine Prep 14, St. Joseph’s Prep 6

Aaron Denesevich had three goals and Jared Chiachetti added two goals and two assists as the Hermits toppled the Hawks.

John Fox and Nicholas DeCaprio each added two goals for St. Augustine.
