Kevin Leveille scored six goals while Jordan Wolf (Lower Merion, Duke) added three goals and two assists Saturday as the Rochester Rattlers advanced to the MLL championship game with a 15-11 win over the visiting Ohio Machine.
The Rattlers rallied back from a 4-0 deficit and dominated the final three quarters. Goalie John Galloway had 16 saves, while face-off specialist John Ortolani won 16 of 29 draws.
Logan Schuss led Ohio’s scorers with two goals and three assists, and Peter Baum had three goals.
The Rattlers advance to play the winner of Denver vs. New York next Saturday at 7 p.m. at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on the campus of Kennesaw St. The Machine, who advanced to the postseason for the first time, finish the season 8-7.
Rochester will take on Denver, a 14-13 winner over the New York Lizards, in the 2014 MLL Championship Game. That game is set for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga.
Jeremy Sieverts scored the game-winning goal with just over a minute left to lift the Outlaws at the University of Denver’s Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.
Denver will face the Rattlers in a rematch of the 2008 MLL Championship. In 2008 the Rattlers, then coached by current Denver Head Coach B.J. O’Hara, beat the Outlaws 16-6 at Harvard Stadium in Boston.
