From Press Release
The Princeton men’s lacrosse schedule used to vary little from year to year. In 2015, there are all kinds of changes, including the date of the first game and two of the non-league opponents.
Princeton has played both North Carolina and Villanova each of the last four years. Now both of them are gone, in favor of games at Maryland (March 7) and Stony Brook (April 4).
Because of a change in Ivy rules, Princeton’s 2015 season opens one week earlier than it has in the past and therefore has one fewer midweek game.
Princeton will open the 2015 season at home on Feb. 14 – the earliest opener in program history – against Manhattan. The only two midweek games are a Tuesday at Rutgers (March 17) and a Wednesday at Lehigh (April 8).Princeton will play five home games, including home league games against Yale, Brown and Harvard and a non-league game against Hofstra. The game against Yale will be the 99th between the two.
The second-most played rivalry in program history is against Rutgers, whom Princeton will meet for the 93rd time when the teams play in Piscataway on St. Patrick’s Day. Rutgers is one of three Big Ten teams Princeton will play, along with Maryland and Johns Hopkins.
On the other end of the spectrum is Stony Brook. The Tigers will travel to Long Island on the first Saturday of April to take on the Seawolves in only the third meeting between the two, who last played in 1993.
Princeton has five home games, its fewest number of home games since 1996.
The Tigers return nine of its 10 regular starters from a year ago.
