From Press Release

Lehigh Smith Family Head Lacrosse Coach Kevin Cassese announced the Mountain Hawks’ 2015 schedule on Friday highlighted by an impressive slate of home games which features National Semifinalist Denver and six-time NCAA National Champion Princeton. The Mountain Hawks play 15 games, seven home and eight away, as they search for their third Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in the last four years.

In total, the Mountain Hawks will play two NCAA Tournament teams from last season. Seven of the team’s 15 opponents have made the NCAA Tournament at least once within the last four years.

Lehigh will open its season by hosting Marquette on Feb. 7. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Golden Eagles in their home opener last season, 13-6, but Marquette bounced back to finish 4-2 in the Big East and advance to the conference semifinals.

The following Saturday, Lehigh will travel to Furman for a second straight season before returning home for its Patriot League opener against Boston University on the 21st.

The Mountain Hawks will travel to Loyola on Feb. 28 for a rematch of the 2014 Patriot League Championship Game and a battle of the last three league champions. Lehigh returns home to host Bucknell the following Saturday before welcoming intrastate foe and reigning Big East finalist Villanova on Tuesday, Mar. 10.

After a big Patriot League matchup at Navy on the 14th, Lehigh returns home on Tuesday, Mar. 17 to host the team that beat Villanova in last year’s Big East Title Game, Denver. The Pioneers have advanced to three of the last four NCAA Final Fours, in 2011, 2012 and 2014 and have made five straight NCAA Tournaments under legendary head coach Bill Tierney.

The Mountain Hawks remain home on Mar. 21 for a rematch of last year’s Patriot League Semifinal thriller against Army, a game that saw Lehigh’s Reid Weber score the game-winning goal with just three seconds remaining to send the Mountain Hawks to a third straight Patriot League Title Game.

Lehigh will hit the road for three straight games which include matchups at Monmouth (Mar. 24), Holy Cross (Mar. 28) and Colgate (Apr. 4). The Mountain Hawks then host six-time NCAA Champion Princeton on Wednesday, Apr. 8 in a rematch of last season’s double overtime classic that was nationally-televised on ESPNU.

The Mountain Hawks will travel to Stony Brook on Sunday, Apr. 12 for the first meeting with the Seawolves since 2009 before welcoming Lafayette on Friday, Apr. 17 for Senior Night.

The Patriot League Tournament begins with the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Apr. 21 on campus sites with the winners advancing to the semifinals on Friday, Apr. 24. The championship game is set for Sunday, Apr. 26 with the semifinals and finals hosted by the regular season champion.

The NCAA Tournament begins the weekend of May 9-10 on campus sites with the quarterfinals the following weekend at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland and Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado. Championship Weekend is set for May 23-25 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia with the Division I Semifinals on Saturday, May 23 and National Championship Game on Sunday, May 25.
