Alexandra Bukeavich log:

Alexandra Bukeavich

High School: James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre, PA

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Defense

College Choice: Delaware Valley College

Major lacrosse honors: Varsity starter since the team started in 2012. 2014 Varsity Captain

What will you major in/study? Small Animal Science/Pre-Vet

Why did you choose Del-Val? “Delaware Valley was the first college I visited and after my visit I didn’t want to hear anything else from any other college. I liked the hands on approach that comes with my major opposed to the Medical Science of a Pre-Vet major. I also liked that the college is only an hour and a half away from home. Once I found out that Delaware Valley was getting a brand new women’s lacrosse team during my freshman year, I was beyond excited to play.”

Outlook for your High School team? “Coughlin lacrosse began when I was a Sophomore in High School. My field hockey coach was also lacrosse coach, and the team consisted of a lot of the girls from our field hockey team. One of our immediate advantages was that we had already played together for years, so playing as a team came easy. For the first two years we held our own fundraisers and mainly relied on those fundraisers to support the team. Finally, this year the team is being funded by the District.

“One of our first victories came when we beat the team that helped us learn the game. The last two years, we haven’t made it past the first round of Districts, and this year we’re looking to place. The weather hasn’t been too cooperative so we haven’t had much solid outdoor practice this season but we’ve been practicing indoor drills a lot. We have a good team this year and our coaches are counting on us seniors to get the team to where we aim to be.”
