Daniel Lanham scored early in a 3-on-3 Braveheart to lift Jags Lax (PA) to a 6-5 victory over HEADstrong L.C. Green Sunday in the championship game of the 2015 AA division at the Boys’ Summer Slam at Westtown School.

Matt Moore (2017 midfielder, Virginia commit) added two goals and two assists for Jags Lax (5-0), comprised primarily of players from Garnet Valley High. Also, 2016 goalie Michael Bonaddio was a standout with several key saves in the final minutes of regulation and overtime.

Lanham, a 2015 St. Joseph’s commit, won 12 of 15 face-offs, scored off a face-off shortly into the Braveheart period.

“Personally this raises my confidence,” said Lanham. “We have been waiting to win championships like this to get us ready for the regular season.

“I knew it was going to come down to Braveheart and knew I was going to win the faceoff.”

HEADstrong (4-1) fought back twice from two goal deficits to send the game into overtime.

For Jags Lax, Jake Buttermore and Gray McKee were top scorers during the tourney while Alex Middleman, Dillon Smart and Josh Giapetta led the defense.

“A win like this means a lot,” said Jags Lax coach Frank Urso. “We have bigger goals then this, but this a great start. They are coming together, which is great.”

“We worked hard all week and then to come in here and play this way is awesome.”
