Women’s recruits: @LafayetteWLAX welcomes 12 incoming freshman

Head Coach Alison Fisher has announced the addition of 12 incoming freshman to the Lafayette women’s lacrosse program as part of the Class of 2018. The group consists of four student-athletes from New Jersey, three from New York, two from Maryland, one from Florida and one from Pennsylvania.

“We are thrilled to welcome the class of 2018 to our program,” Fisher said. “They have already had a very positive impact on our team. We have enjoyed watching them grow this fall and assimilate themselves into our team culture. This group will no doubt be expected to contribute right away this spring. They are talented, competitive and very passionate about representing Lafayette College.”

Four attackers, four midfielders, two goalkeepers, a defender and a midfield/defender make up the class.

Kristin Schaen, Midfield (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett): Four-year varsity letter winner…was a team captain…scored 137 goals and had 65 assists in her career…made All-Chestmont third team in 2013…first team All-Chestmont in 2014…All-area first team 2014…also played four years of field hockey and indoor track…swam for one year…distinguished honor roll…member of National Honor Society…Grace Milhous Merrick Scholarship recipient…Dr. D Duer Reynolds Memorial Cup winner (Top Female Athlete)….was an Academic All-American in 2014.

Dana Smith, Midfield/Defense (Princeton, N.J./Princeton): Four-year varsity letterwinner…was a team captain…2012 All-Mercer County first team…2013 All-area first team…2013 All-conference first team…2014 All-area first team…All-Mercer County first team…All-conference first team…defensive player of the year (Trentonian)…played 4 years of soccer…won the Princeton High School Gold Key award in 2014…Member of Journalism National Honor Society…National Merit Scholar Finalist…NS Lacrosse Academic All-American 2013 and 2014.

Gina Bianchi, Goalkeeper (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit): Three-year varsity letter winner as a goalie…was an Academic All-American…high honor roll student…won superintendents award…won Mark Vienna award…was captain of the debate team…was an anchor on the Morning Show at Irondequoit.

Maddy Bowles, Attack (Chatham, N.J./Chatham): Four-year varsity letterwinner…team captain her senior year…scored 94 career goals and had 45 career assists…North Jersey All-League Second Team in 2013 and 2014…was an Academic All-American in 2013 and 2014…earned First Team All-Morris County in 2013 and Second Team All-Morris County in 2014…National Honor Society 2013 and 2014…Spanish Honor Society 2013 and 2014…high honor roll throughout high school.

Ally Flechsig, Defense (Burtonsville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel): Three-year varsity letterwinner…2012 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference second team…2013 WCAC honorable mention…Academic All-American 2013 and 2014…won captain and coach’s award 2014…2013 WCAC Champion…2012 and 2014 WCAC runner-up…made Principal’s honor roll 3 years….St. Mary’s Scholars…AP Scholar.

Natalie Gosnell, Midfield (Bethesda, Md./Stone Ridge School): Four-year varsity letterwinner…was a captain for two years…ISL AA MVP three years…2014 Honorable Mention All-Gazette…2013 second team All-Gazette…2012 Honorable mention All-Gazette…2013 Academic All-American…2012 All-League….All ISL 2012 and 2013…high honor roll all four years…academic All-League four years.

Emma Hardy, Midfield (Palenville, N.Y./The Albany Academies): Four-year varsity letterwinner…was a captain…made Capital District Women’s Lacrosse League first team All-star team in 2014…2013 Capital District Independent division All-star 2013…was a 2014 MVP High School award recipient…Played four years of soccer…also participated in dance workshop.

Anna Kennedy, Attack (Crofton, Md./Archbishop Spalding): Four-year varsity letterwinner…was a team captain…selected first team Maryland (Brine national tournament)…selected for D.C. school girls national tournament…Two time U.S.I.L.A. Academic All-American…honor roll…National Honor Society.

Lucy Linville, Attack (Princeton, N.J./Princeton Day School): was a team captain…Trentonian honorable mention…All-Mercer County…played soccer for two years…honor roll student.

Erika Mazer, Midfield (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage): Four-year varsity letterwinner…scored 125 goals and had 51 assists in high school …was a 2012 first team district midfield…Second all-region defense…2013 first team District Midfield…Second all-region midfield…2014 first team all-district attack…First team all-region attack…Third team all-league…2013-14 academic All-American…Honor Roll 9th-12th grade…One blood scholarship recipient…National Honor Society member.

Taylor Medd, Attack (Morristown, N.J./Villa Walsh Academy): Four-year varsity letter winner…was an Under Armour Academic All-American…2014 First Team All-Morris County…four-year indoor track letter winner…Honor roll.

Anna Raymond, Goalkeeper (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac): Four-year varsity letter winner…was a team captain senior year…was an All-League selection her senior year…was an Academic All-American…Made high honor roll all four years….National Honor Society Member…graduated in the top 10% of class.
