Winning goalie Will Schreiner (Avon Grove) stopped nine of 12 shots and defensemen Greg Pelton (Malvern Prep, Duke) and Connor Keating (Haverford School, Penn) enjoyed big days to help the South defeat the North, 17-16, Saturday in the Under Armour Senior All-American game at Towson University.

Schreiner was in goal when the South rallied for the victory, coming back from a seven-goal deficit in the first half. Along with Schreiner, his high school teammate Tanner Peck, played for the victorious South Team.

Schreiner entered the game in the second half as the South trailed the North, 13-10. He saved four shots in the third quarter, allowing only two goals, before stopped five shots in the fourth quarter against one goal allowed. His save percentage (.750) was the best of the four goalies that played on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pelton collected 10 grundballs and a caused turnover while Keating had a goal, three groundballs and two caused turnovers.

The MVP of the game was Mikey Wynne (St. Paul’s/Notre Dame) of the South. He had four goals including the game-winner 49 seconds into sudden victory overtime.

The South trailed, 9-2, at one point in the first half before the South kicked it into gear to forge a 15-15 tie. The north’s Tyler Breen (Taft School-CT, Virginia) put the North ahead, 16-15, but the South forced overtime on a goal by Brendan Collins (Georgetown Prep-MD, Notre Dame) with 1:28 left in regulation.

Charlie Horning Jr (Georgetown Prep-MD, Villanova) added three goals and an assist for the South while Justin Anderson (Centennial-NV, North Carolina) added three goals for the South. Defensively, Greg Pelton (Malvern Prep-PA, Duke) had 10 groundballs and a caused turnover and LSM Peter Welch (Delbarton-NJ, Duke) had nine groundballs and three caused turnovers as well as the tying goal to make it 15-15.

Sam Bonafede (Chaminade-NY, Princeton) had five goals and 10 groundballs for the North while Connor Fields (Bishop Timon-NY, Albany) added three goals. North goalie Tommy Heidt (Brunswick School-CT, Michigan) set an Under Armour record with 13 saves.
