From Press Release
Fresh off of one of its best summers, the NXT Bandits family is looking to expand.
The NXT Bandits will host tryouts to fill their youth teams that vary from third to eighth grade, in addition to a ninth and 10th grade team, Sundays Sept. 7 and 14 at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. The first tryout will be held Sept. 7 from 2-4 p.m. and the second tryout will be Sept. 14 from 10 a.m.-noon.
“We had a very positive summer where our teams took a big step forward in terms of their development,” Bandits Director of Coaching Mike DelGrande said. “We want to continue with the growth of the program by building on our summer success this upcoming fall. Last year, we had teams in third/fourth grade, fifth/sixth grade and seventh/eighth grade, and it’s our goal to field even more teams if possible. That includes a 2017 team (ninth/10th grade) this upcoming fall.”
The NXT Bandits follow a year-round model that features both field and box lacrosse training. The teams will have three box lacrosse practices and will take part in NXT’s Holiday Indoor Tournament and the Philadelphia Indoor Lacrosse Championship, in addition to four winter skills sessions at SCH.
From a field lacrosse aspect, the NXT Bandits will have four fall practices and be a part of the fall NXT Play Day. The teams will participate in 10 summer practices, including a NXT Play Day, and will also compete in three or four events in the summer. The NXT Bandits will also have faceoff and goalie specialist coaches available to them year-round.
“It’s exciting to see how much the Bandits have grown in the past year and, like any good program, we know there is still plenty of room for growth and development and all of our coaches look forward to continuing this during the fall,” DelGrande said.
