The 2014 FIL World Championships concluded Saturday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. as Canada emerged victorious, 8-5, over the United States. Penn State men’s head coach Jeff Tambroni, 2006 graduate Greg Gurenlian (Springfield-Delco) and 2009 graduate Drew Adams (Springfield-Delco) represented the American squad that earned silver.

In the championship game, Canada grinded out a 3-1 halftime lead, eventually scoring five straight after halftime to open an 8-2 advantage. Despite three straight U.S. tallies in the fourth quarter, the rally fell short and the Canadians earned its third gold medal.

Gurenlian was the second-best face-off specialist by winning percentage (.811) as he won 60 of 74 draws. Gurenlian notched two assists and collected 38 ground balls for his effort.

Adams appeared in four of seven contests, earning a 3.79 goals-against average and a .600 save percentage in nearly 211 minutes of action. Adams finished his first world games appearance with 15 saves and four ground balls.
