Registration for middle school and high school boys remains open for the Philly Face-Off League, which continues this summer after gaining tremendous popularity this winter.
During the winter over 40 different high school face-off players participated regularly in the Philly Face-Off League. Directors are also launching a new Middle School league this summer.
The Philly Face-Off League is held every Tuesday in June and July. Middle school players will practice from 4-5:30 PM and high school players from 5:30-7 PM. Players for their respective school or club teams can meet once a week to not only practice their skills against each other, but receive elite coaching.
In order to be a part of the league you must have at least one year of experience facing-off at a high level for your school or club team. This is an IDEAL clinic for face-off guys who want to compete against other quality face-off players for 90 minutes while receiving individualized instruction.
After receiving a thorough warm up for about 10-15 minutes, players in the league will be constantly going “live” against each other in a fun round robin style format. The new rules and regulations for face-offs will be strictly enforced throughout the session. At the end of every session a King of the X will be held to see who has the hot hand that day.
Players in the league should already be able to demonstrate the proper faceoff stance and body language in order to compete. This is a great way to come out and gain amazing experience against local players who will all be facing off for their school or club teams.
The Philadelphia Face-Off League is run by John Bodnar (Episcopal Academy, NXT Lacrosse) and Mike Dolente (Cabrini College, Dukes LC). They both have an extensive background in working with some of the best face-off guys in the area and are asking for more guys to compete.
