Forry Smith, Dox Aitken and Brendan Jacobs each had two goals and Grant Ament dished off four assists Thursday as Haverford School toppled visiting Avon Grove, 10-6, in a non-league boys’ lacrosse game.
Haverford School, No. 2 in the Phillylacrosse.com Rankings, bolted to a 4-1 first-period lead and improved to 11-3. No. 6 Avon Grove fell to 7-3.
Alex DeMarco posted 10 saves for the Fords.
Will Schreiner had 18 saves for the Devils and Stephen Cyron had two goals and an assist.
Episcopal Academy 13, Lawrenceville School 8
Curtis Zappala had four goals and three assists and Dutch Buckley added three goals and one assist while Matt Ernst won 18 of 21 face-offs to lead the Churchmen.
Colin Reder posted 11 saves for EA.
Spring-Ford 10, Perkiomen Valley 7
Jake Hvazda posted six goals and one assist to power the Rams (9-0 PAC-10, 9-2 overall).
Sean Tornetta hada hat trick while Ben Minardi added two goals and one assist for Perk Valley (6-3, 8-3).
Holy Ghost 10, Downingtown East 7
Greg Price posted 18 saves while Sean McDonald and Bennett Zaba each had two goals and two assists to lead a balanced attack for Holy Ghost.
Nathan Wingate had three goals and two assists for Downingtown East.
Academy New Church 14, Neshaminy 11
Jesse Frazier erupted for eight goals and two assists and James Vandergrift had six goals and two assists while Liam McGrath posted 15 saves for ANC.
Central Bucks South 11, North Penn 5
The visiting Titans defeated the Knights as Brendan McGrath scored four goals and Jake henze had two goals and an assist.
CB South goalie, Robby Richick earned the win with five saves.
Central Bucks West 8, Henderson 2
The Bucks’ defense blanked Henderson in the first half and Kevin Ernst had three goals and one assist. Clark Hawes added a goal and an assist while Corey Schott, Reece Udinski, Ryan Green and Will Ross each had single goals.
In goal for the Bucks, Mik Harvan turned away 12 of 13 shots he faced. Steve Hogan made one save and allowed one goal. Luke Durkin won 12-of-13 faceoffs and also led the team with nine ground balls. Schechter added six ground balls and Udinski had five.
Wissahickon 10, Lower Merion 2
The Trojans turned in an impressive defensive effort, keeping the Aces off the scoreboard until the fourth period. By that time, the Trojans led 6-0.
Jack Shea (three goals) and Brooks Melvin (two goals and two assists) led a balanced Trojan attack. Nate DeGroat, Zach Scannapieco and Tyler Zapach each added one goal and one assist while Luke Gomez and Neal Guaglianone both had one goal.
Wissahickon goalie Jack Myers was credited with 11 saves while his counterparts – John Brody and Conor Whitby – combined for nine saves.
Radnor 6, Penn Charter 1
Radnor’s defense shut down the Quakers as Alex Andersen made seven saves and Tom Meyers won 9 of 10 face offs while Jack Wilson paced the offense with three goals and one assist.
Strath Haven 12, Downingtown West 8
Tucker Carney (three goals, three assists), Bryan Mizell (two goals) and Jake Ross (two goals) led the Panthers.
Hunter Lewis had four goals and an assist for Downingtown West.
