Phillylacrosse.com Girls’ Rankings: Major changes near the top

The rankings took a major jolt last week with some surprising results – the most stunning being Downingtown East’s 6-5 win over former No. 2 Harriton. Here are this week’s Phillylacrosse.com Girls’ Rankings:

1. Moorestown (5-0) Prev: No. 1 The Quakers host Florida power Vero Beach Saturday in what will be their toughest game to date.

2. Garnet Valley (7-0) Prev: No. 3- The Jaguars have a huge week, hosting Harriton Tuesday and Springfield-Delco on Thursday.

3. Springfield-Delco (5-0) Prev: No. 4 – The Cougars play a key Central League game Thursday at Garnet Valley.

4. Episcopal Academy (6-1) Prev: No. 8 – EA hosts Germantown Academy on Friday in the Inter-Ac League.

5. Archbishop Carroll (5-1) Prev: No. 6 – The Patriots split Saturday in the St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (VA) Spring Fling, defeating Holy Cross (MD), 10-9, and bowing to Oakton (VA), 9-8.

6. Radnor (5-1) Prev: No. 7 – The Raiders host Conestoga Tuesday in the Central League.

7. Boyertown (6-0) Prev: No. 9- The Bears have a big game Thursday at Spring-Ford in the PAC-10.

8. Great Valley (5-0) Prev: No. 15 The Patriots took a major step in the Ches-Mont League race with their 13-8 win over Downingtown East.

9. Downingtown East (4-1) Prev: No. 13 – The Cougars won their biggest game since claiming the District 1 title three years ago when they handed Harriton a 6-5 loss on Saturday on the Rams’ home field.

10. Harriton (3-3) Prev: No. 2 – The Rams face a real gut test Tuesday at Garnet Valley after this still-stunning 6-5 loss to Downingtown East.

11. Lenape (3-0) Prev: NR - The Indians stunned Shawnee, 9-2.

12. Agnes Irwin (6-1) Prev: No. 10 - The Owls rebounded nicely from a difficult loss to Episcopal Academy with two wins at the SSSA Spring Fling.

13. Cape Henlopen (4-0) Prev: No. 11 – The Vikings overcome a major challenge from Archmere Academy in winning their 63rd straight in-state game, 13-7.

14. Strath Haven (4-2) Prev: No. 12 – The Panthers play Tuesday at Lower Merion.

15. Germantown Academy (2-2) Prev: No. 14 – The Patriots play Tuesday at Penn Charter.
