Boys’ lacrosse: Malvern Prep wins another one-goal game, topples La Salle, 6-5

Sparky Hilburn scored the game-winner with five minutes to play to lift visiting Malvern Prep to a 6-5 thriller over La Salle today in non-league boys’ lacrosse.

The 7-0 Friars, No. 1 in the Phillylacrosse.com Rankings, won their third straight one-goal game over a ranked team. No. 13 La Salle is 0-3.

Hilburn and Adam Goldner each had a goal and an assist while Kyle Anderson, Conor Glancy, Tripp Traynor and Kevin McGeary scored once each. Carson Cocco got the win, making five saves.

Michael Rihm and Aidan Kerrigan each had a goal and an assist while Mitchell Soufleris, Stephen Hudak and Derek Bitzer scored one apiece for the Explorers. Colin MacDougall made 13 saves.
