Level 2 Sports has announced the roster for the Pennsylvania girls’ team that will represent the state in the Brine National Lacrosse Classic July 1-3 at the Maryland Soccerplex in Boyds, Md.

The tryout held Sunday at Germantown Academy drew 100 girls from around the state as players from Pittsburgh, State College and central PA were joined by Philly area players on the roster.

Below is reaction from several players that were named to the team.Brine NLC

Maryn Bernhardt, Manheim Township, 2016 midfielder (Lehigh commit), Xtreme

How was the competition at the tryout and what did you do to adjust your game?
Bernhardt: “The competition was good especially because of the amount of girls that were at the tryout. It was cool because there were a lot of familiar faces from past tournaments or camps. Adjusting the game isn’t too hard; instead of playing as a team, you’re playing for yourself at a tryout – which can be weird but still fun.”

What did you learn from the event that will help you as the season begins?
Bernhardt:: “I worked a lot on man up situations at the tryout, which always helps in regular season. And just to be playing with girls from all over the Pennsylvania area helps because hopefully my school team will be playing some of the girls in post season games.”

Why did you try out for the Brine NLC and what do you hope to gain from the experience?
Bernhardt:: “I tried out because girls on my school team have played on it before and learned a lot and enjoyed it. I hope to gain some great competitive playing!”

Katie Heisman, Henderson High, 2016, attack, PA Express

How was the competition at the tryout and what did you do to adjust your game?

Heisman: “Going into it, I didn’t know what to expect. Everyone was really good and everyone was bringing everything they had to the tryout. I was more aggressive and not so tentative. I saw how many people were there and I knew I needed to step it up to be seen.”

What did you learn from the event that will help you as the season begins?

Heisman: “I think it gave me a lot more confidence. Going in, I saw there were a lot of girls so I was not getting my hopes up, but now I am coming into the season with a big confidence booster.”

Why did you try out for the Brine NLC and what do you hope to gain from the experience?
Heisman: “My club team coach sent out an e-mail and I looked on the website and thought it would be great to be able to go to Maryland to play with all the people and college coaches. I am a sophomore and figured I had nothing to lose. Now I am really excited; I will be getting to play with new girls from all over. It’s going to be really cool!”

Carson Adelberger, Sun Valley, 2015 midfielder, HEADstrong LC

How was the competition at the tryout and what did you do to adjust your game?
Adelberger:
“The competition was tough. I was really nervous when I first got there and saw how many girls there were, but I knew that if I got myself worked up I wouldn’t do my best. So I really just tried to keep calm and focus on what I had to do.”

What did you learn from the event that will help you as the season begins?
Adelberger:
“When I was at the tryout I met some girls that I play against during my season and by watching them play I was able to see what their strengths and weaknesses were. But it also made me realize that this season is going to be tough because some of these girls are really good so I’m always going to have to be at the top of my game.”

Why did you try out for the Brine NLC and what do you hope to gain from the experience?
Adelberger:
“I tried out because of how much fun I had last year playing for Team PA. This year I hope to have just as much fun along with working on what I’m good at and not so good at with the help of my coaches.”

Elizabeth Petrosky, Manheim Township, 2016 A, Xtreme

How was the competition at the tryout and what did you do to adjust your game?
Petrosky:
“The competition at the tryouts was very competitive, as expected. A lot of good girls were there making it intense but exciting at the same time. I knew I had to give 110% and show myself as best as I could.”

What did you learn from the event that will help you as the season begins?
Petrosky:
“Even though you are one of the best on your high school team, everyone at these types of tryouts are the best on their high school teams so always work hard and try to get better.”

Why did you try out for the Brine NLC and what do you hope to gain from the experience?
Petrosky:
“I tried out for Brine to get an idea of where I stood amongst other girls in my recruiting class. I hope to commit to college this summer and use this tournament as a chance to show myself to college scouts.”
