Host Rochester dealt the Philadelphia Wings their fifth National Lacrosse League loss in a row tonight, 13-8 at the Blue Cross Arena on Saturday night.
Fresh off their bye week, Philadelphia started the game at full-strength and anxious to prove a point on the road. The Wings tallied the first score of the night and built a 4-2 lead through the first quarter. Forward Jordan Hall contributed three points (one goal, two assists) in the first.
Rochester found their stride in the second quarter and went on a 4-0 run to gain their first lead of the evening. Philadelphia was outscored in the second frame but tied things up at 5-5 as both teams entered halftime. A small scuffle broke out when the clock expired in the first half between the NLL East Division rivals. No penalties were assigned. Forward Jordan Hall notched his second goal of the evening and led all runners in points through two quarters with a total of four (two goals, two assists).
Rochester controlled the second half to lead to their victory over Philadelphia. The Knighthawks outscored the Wings 8-3 through the final two quarters. Rochester went on three different scoring runs in the second half and outshot the Wings 42-40 in shots on goal.
Forwards Jordan Hall and Kevin Crowley shined the brightest for Philadelphia by contributing multi-goal games. Combined they added eight of the 20 points for the Wings (five goals, three assists).
Rochester leading scorer Cody Jamieson added four goals to surpass the 20 goal plateau on the season. Former Wing, Dan Dawson, tallied six points against his old squad (five assists, one goal). With the loss, Philadelphia drops to 3-8 on the season and sits at fourth place in the NLL East Division.
The Wings make their way back to Philadelphia to take on the Rochester Knighthawks for the final matchup of the 2014 regular season series between the two, at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, March 16 at 4 p.m.
