Haverford School to induct state title team from 1985, Unger, Viola in its Hall of Fame

The 1985 state championship boys’ lacrosse team will be inducted into the Haverford School Hall of Fame at an induction ceremony on Saturday night in the School’s Field House.

Also being inducted are lacrosse/football/basketball/track standout Peter Unger (Class of ’74), who was an assistant coach on the 1985 team; and lacrosse/football/wrestling standout Mike Viola (Class of ’96)

The Haverford School 1985 Lacrosse Team had a 14-2 overall record and was undefeated in the Inter-Ac and Pennsylvania (only losses to Garden City, N.Y., and Lawrenceville, N.J.); won third State Championship in Haverford history. Beat Episcopal in championship 7-4 (scored five goals in the second half while holding EA scoreless). Multiple players had successful college lacrosse careers: Ken Dash (Tufts), Perry Dodge (Harvard Captain and Division 1 All-American), Ed Gaffney (Georgetown), Matt Gillin (Denison), Gene Glavin (Duke), Andy Holmes (Duke), Matt Holmes (Denison), Jon Koffler (Tufts Captain), Paul O’Grady (Villanova; played professionally for Wings), Tim O’Mara (Bucknell), John Piasecki (Yale), Chip Scully (Bucknell), and Alex Yarnall (Penn).

    is this really news worthy? I have never seen any other schools make such a minor announcement. This is Nostrant at his egotistical best just saying look how great I am and Haverford. Please no more stories to puff up an ego manic like Nostrant…..
