Patriot League men’s lacrosse news:
Defensive Player of the Week for period ending Feb. 9:
JACKSON PLACE, BUCKNELL Sr., D, Episcopal Academy, Pa.
Bucknell’s senior co-captain spearheaded a terrific defensive effort in a 6-4 season-opening win over Delaware. The Bison allowed only two even strength goals all day, one of which came with 0:03 left in the game after the outcome had been decided. Place, an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American, had two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the game.
PATRICK CORBETT, LEHIGH So., A, Camillus, N.Y.
Netted a hat-trick in each game of Lehigh’s 2-0 week. Tallied three goals in win over Furman and followed that up with four in win over Marquette.
RYAN BUTTENBAUM, LEHIGH Sr., M, Conestoga, Pa.
Helped Lehigh control possession in 2-0 week as Mountain Hawks allowed just 15 shots to Furman and 27 to Marquette. Scooped 16 groundballs for the week including a career-high 12 against Marquette. Was a perfect 12-for-12 in first-half faceoffs.
