Women’s recruits: Springfield-Montco’s Brockman among signees for Gannon

Gannon head women’s lacrosse coach Lindsey Lowman has announced the addition of eight student-athletes to the program. All eight have agreed to continue their academic and athletic careers at Gannon in the fall of 2014.

The 2014 recruiting class includes Marie Brockman (Erdenheim, Pa./Springfield Township), Kierstyn Haight (Oshawa, Ontario/Maxwell Heights), Leilani King (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy), Jessica Lambert (Livonia, N.Y./Livonia), Ileyana Little (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills), Jaide Litzelman (McSherrystown, Pa./New Oxford), Hannah Sinsebox (West Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) and Alexis Strouse (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright).

Gannon concluded its 2013 season with a 10-8 overall record. The Lady Knights have reached double digits in victories during nine consecutive seasons and have played in four consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournaments. The program has produced a winning record every season during its 18-year existence.

Lowman’s Comments: “An athletic and versatile student-athlete who will contribute on both ends of the field. Marie has quick hands and a knack for finding the back of the net on offense, and her toughness and aggressiveness will be an asset through the midfield and on defense.”

Kierstyn Haight
Oshawa, Ontario | Maxwell Heights High School

Expected major: Nursing
Club Team: Oshawa Lady Blue Knights
Plays for head coach Jess Lee at Maxwell Heights High School in Oshawa, Ontario
Named varsity team MVP
Serves as a varsity team captain
Received an honors award for academic excellence
Played for the Blue Knights club team, helping the program win three provincial championships and record two undefeated seasons
Captured the Ontario Summer Games Gold Medal with the Blue Knights
Is the daughter of Adrianne and Terry
Has one sister and one brother
Lowman Comments: “Kierstyn comes to us with a great lacrosse IQ and a passion for the game. She has polished stick skills and an ability to make her teammates shine. Kierstyn’s physical stature allows her to dominate on the draw and she has great field sense. Her experience internationally has made her a very mature student-athlete with great vision.”

Leilani King
St. Albans, Vermont | Bellows Free Academy High School

Expected major: Mechanical Engineering
Club Team: Northern Edge & Team IAS
Plays for head coach Mary Pipes at Bellows Free (Vt.) Academy
Is a two-time all-state selection, being named to the first team as a junior and second team as a sophomore
Selected to play in the Rising Stars Game as a freshman and junior
Helped Bellows Free Academy finish second in the state as a sophomore and fourth as a junior
Earned high honors in academics
Received the Gold Pin Award
Named Student of the Month in Spanish and Math
Is the daughter of Lori and Kevin
Has three brothers and one sister
Lowman’s Comments: “A tall and athletic student-athlete who has the ability to take over a game. Leilani is a dominant presence on the attack and has the ability to be a threat as a goal scorer and a feeder. She will fight for every 50/50 ball and won’t back down from a challenge. Lani is a fierce competitor and will make an immediate impact on the field.”

Jessica Lambert
Livonia, N.Y. | Livonia High School

Expected major: Physical Therapy

Plays for head coach Nancy Morgan at Livonia (N.Y.) High School
Has been a four-year varsity starter
Is a three-time Scholar-Athlete
Has served as a team captain the last two seasons
Finished among the top three in goals and assists as a sophomore and junior
Named Rookie of the Year as a freshman
Is a two-sport athlete, being named a LCAA All-Star in soccer
Named a Scholar-Athlete and an Exceptional Senior in soccer
Serves as a varsity soccer team captain

Ileyana Little
Wayne, N.J. | Wayne Hills High School

Named varsity team MVP as a junior
Is a two-time all-county selection, being named to the first team as a junior and second team as a sophomore
Landed a spot on the all-league first team and the All-North Jersey second team as a junior
Named to the “Terrific 10″
Accorded team freshman MVP honors in 2011
Named Unsung Hero as a sophomore
Has scored 95 goals
Helped Wayne Hills advance to the county finals as a junior, finishing 12-7 after a 16-15 triple-overtime loss in the finals
Is the daughter of Lourdes and Edward

Lowman Comments: “Ileyana will have an impact on both ends of the field. On the defensive end, she has great footwork and anticipates well. Ileyana’s quick feet and smart decisions make her a threat on the offensive side of the field. She will always give her maximum effort and leave everything on the field.”

Jaide Litzelman
McSherrystown, Pa. | New Oxford High School

Expected major: Respiratory Care
Club Team: Lanco Elite
Plays for head coach Jessica McIntyre at New Oxford (Pa.) High School
Is the daughter of Joyce and Scott
Lowman Comments: “Jaide is a tough defender who has the stick skills to have an impact in the midfield as well. She has quick feet and a disciplined stick on the defensive end. Jaide has a great work ethic and will add depth to both our defense and midfield. She will be a great addition to our team.”

Hannah Sinsebox
West Henrietta, N.Y. | Rush-Henrietta High School
