The Philly Indoor Lacrosse Championships, the nation’s most prestigious box lacrosse winter tournament ended Sunday with the youth divisions taking to the rinks. After the excitement of Saturday’s high school play, Sunday’s action involved a sold-out slate of 24 teams, with 12 teams competing in the 5th/6th and 7th/8th divisions. The games were hotly contested all day long, and the tournament ended with two new champions crowned.
7TH/8TH GRADE GROUP A
The PILC culminated with the 7th/8th grade division Sunday afternoon. The championship game saw a reversal as Freedom Lacrosse Club upset North Jersey-based Leading Edge 2017 9-6, avenging a previous loss to Leading Edge suffered during round-robin play. Freedom reached the final after winning a dramatic semi-final 7-6 in sudden-death overtime over another Garden State foe, Patriot Lacrosse White.

5TH/6TH Grade Division
Long Island-based North of the Border Box Lacrosse club took home the cup in the 5th/6th grade division, besting Northern Virginia club Washington Generals 14-5 in the championship game. North of the Border went a perfect 4-0 in round-robin group play, and won their semifinal 11-5 over Pottstown-based Rising Sons L.C.
