The Villanova women’s lacrosse team (2-3 overall, 0-0 BIG EAST) scored seven of the game’s first nine goals in the first half and cruised to a 16-7 victory today over Mount St. Mary’s (1-5 overall, 0-0 Northeast Conference) here on a bright afternoon filled with sunshine at Villanova Stadium.

Junior Ali Judge and senior Maria Bowman tallied three goals apiece for the Wildcats while sophomore Jessica Mucci contributed six assists. 12 different Wildcats were credited with at least one point on the afternoon.

Other notable efforts turned in came from Villanova’s Annie Fallon, who added a goal and three assists and Elise Bendinelli (Villa Maria Academy), who chipped in with two goals. Hannah Goforth (Bishop Shanahan) added a goal.

A pair of late second-half goals secured the Hawks’ fifth win of the season at Finnesey Field. With the win, the Hawks tie their total number of wins from last season and extend their winning streak to three games.
Trailing 6-4 midway through the second half, Manhattan (1-4) netted back-to-back goals in just 37 seconds (11:43, 11:06) to tie the game, 6-6.

The Jaspers would commit a foul at the 7:04 mark to set sophomore midfielder Julia Falcone (West Chester East) up for a free position shot, and Falcone found the back of the net to give the Hawks the 7-6 advantage.

Megahn McDevitt (Manheim Township) led all scorers with a game-high four goals on a six shots for an impressive .667 shooting percentage on the day and has now registered a hat-trick in four of six games this season. Falcone added two goals and picked up a game-leading four ground balls.
