Drexel senior Kelli Joran (Downingtown East) has been named Co-Player of the Week by the Colonial Athletic Association and WomensLax.com’s Player of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday afternoon.
Joran and the Dragons extended their winning streak to three games after defeating La Salle on Wednesday night and No. 11 Penn on Saturday. Delaware’s Caitlin McCartney (Archbishop Wood) was also recognized as Co-Player of the Week by the league.
Joran has scored a hat trick in all three of the Drexel’s contests so far this season. She currently leads the team with nine goals and four assists for 13 total points.
Against La Salle, Joran netted three goals and posted two assists. She also won five draw controls and caused a turnover. On Saturday, the Downingtown native led the attack with three goals and an assist in the Dragons’ first win over Penn since 1993 and second in program history.
She also tallied the most draw control wins with three and caused turnovers with two against the Quakers. Joran finished the weekend with six goals, three assists, eight draws and three caused turnovers.
The Drexel women’s lacrosse team will visit the Saint Joseph’s Hawks at 3:00 p.m. on March 1. The Dragons enter Friday’s game with a 3-0 overall record, which marks the best start for the squad since 2010.
