The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team saw hat tricks from four players Tuesday afternoon as the Blue Hens tallied their highest scoring game since the 2011 campaign in a 17-7 rout of Lehigh University at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
“Today we put together two solid halves,” said third-year head coach Kateri Linville. “The offense paced us with seven members putting up points. Allison [Hahn], Bridget [Burns] and Chelsea [Fay] really set the tempo while Shannon [Burns], McKenzie [Rafferty] and Lizzie [Duffey] were sparks off the bench.”
Junior Chelsea Fay (Villa Maria Academy) collected a career-high five goals on eight shots (six on goal) in addition to one groundball and causing one turnover. The game marked Fay’s sixth career hat trick.
Sophomore attacker Allison Hahn also tallied a career-high five goals for her third career hat trick in addition to one assist and two controlled draws.
Fellow junior Bridget Burns (Notre Dame) picked up her third career hat trick with three goals and also added a game-high two assists for five points on the day. Additionally, Burns contributed two draw controls for the Hens.
Wrapping up the hat tricks for Delaware was junior Shannon Burns (Springfield-Delco), who tied a career-high of three goals on four shots. She scooped up a game-best five groundballs while also controlling two draws and causing two turnovers.
