From Press Release
The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) have signed veteran defender Kyle Sweeney (Springfield-Delco) and forward Mike McLellan to contracts for the remainder of the 2013 season.
Sweeney is a familiar face to Philadelphia fans as he previously suited up for the Wings from 2005 to 2011. In his seven seasons in Philadelphia, Sweeney scored 21 goals, while scooping 433 loose balls. The Georgetown alumnus previously played with the Edmonton Rush.
The Wings drafted Sweeney in the eighth round (83rd overall) of the 2003 NLL Entry Draft. During the 2009 NLL season, he was named an All-Star reserve.
Sweeney was selected by the Bridgeport Barrage in the 2003 MLL Collegiate Draft and anchored the defensive unit that has helped the Philadelphia Barrage win the MLL championships in 2004, 2006 and 2007.
McLellan joins the Wings as his sixth NLL team, previously playing in Edmonton and Colorado, as well as Orlando, Arizona and New York. The 6’1’ Toronto native has scored 121 career goals to go with 93 assists and recovered 176 loose balls. McLellan looks to add additional depth to the Wings left side this season.
