Boys’ Events
The Keystone Lacrosse Officials Association is offering the US Lacrosse Cadet Training Class beginning November 19 for a fee of $40. This class is for individuals who wish to become a boys’ lacrosse official. The class will provide intensive training on the rules, mechanics and philosophy to officiate the game of lacrosse. For more information please contact Gil Zirkel at Laxref_GZ@yahoo.com. This class will help you prepare for the PIAA officials examination, which is given February 3, 2014. The fees associated with the class will be collected on the first night. Students will receive training materials and a current NHFS rule book. Classes will be held on the following Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. at the Woodlynde School, 445 Upper Gulph Rd, Strattford, PA 19087.

Maplezone Sports Institute is hosting a Boys Lacrosse Officiating Training class series beginning Thursday, Dec. 5. The sessions will be held on successive Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. and feature Classroom Training & On-Field Time. Learn the NFHS game rules, officiating mechanics and philosophy and prepare for the PIAA or US Lacrosse Test. Indoor games will be used for actual “grass time” training. Leagues
Fusion Lacrosse/Bucksmont (BISC) Box Lacrosse League. Sundays, 11/23/13-2/23/14. Fusion lacrosse combines league play with its elite instruction. Professional Players, and local coaches Kevin Crowley and Steven Holmes, run 4 practice sessions (1.25 hrs each) for every team in the league. Eight weeks are reserved for box lacrosse league games lasting an hour each. The 13th and final week of the league is the league tournament with championship games. Fusion’s rulebook keeps the integrity of the great game of box lacrosse while cutting out certain elements that don’t translate outdoors. The three divisions are 5/6 grade, 7/8th grade, and Junior Varsity. Spots are very limited with four teams in each division, with teams already having committed. Maplezone Winter Indoor League for boys and girls youth to high school, at Maplezone on the Conchester Highway in Boothwyn. The league features elite boys and girls programs from the area. The winter lacrosse league will begin the first week of December and run through the middle of February with playoffs and championship games for all levels. This league will fill up quickly so please do not miss out on the opportunity to play lacrosse through those winter months in a climate controlled environment. NXTsports/United Sports’ box lacrosse league, with modified box rules, designed to foster the skill-development that comes from playing in tight quarters, but with limited contact to create a completely safe environment. The league will debut the weekend of December 7-8 at the United Sports with a series of clinics for participating coaches, players, goalies and referees. The clinics will review game rules, coaching practices, and provide basic skill sessions for players and goalies. League games will be played Sundays, starting on Sunday, December 8, and the league will wrap with playoffs and championships on Sunday, February 16. The league will feature youth and high school divisions. Additional details regarding scheduling, age brackets, and all other information will be released shortly. Malvern Prep Winter Middle School Indoor Skill Sessions. The Malvern Preparatory School Winter Middle School Indoor Skill Sessions will be open to all boys in grades 6-8th. Sessions will be comprised of an array of Box Skills and drills that are used by many top colleges and professional teams today. Old School Winter Stick Skills sessions, hosted by Old School Lacrosse club and directed by Haverford School coach John Nostrant. Begins Dec. 7 at The Phelps School for boys in Grades 9, 10 and 11. Training will consist of Stick Skills, and small sided controlled settled/unsettled situations. This is only for field players due to the high repetition of the drills being used (there will be no goalies). These sessions are not for beginners; players must have a basic proficiency. Players can register even if they do not play for the Old School club. The sessions will focus on proper throwing/shooting mechanics in order to achieve maximum efficiency in drills and small sided situations. The curriculum is progressive and builds upon itself each week, therefore we do not add players after week one of the clinic or offer a per session rate. If you are serious about getting better you will not want to miss one of these sessions. There will be elements of box lacrosse combined with field lacrosse techniques in a unique curriculum that produces rapid results. The curriculum and instruction is delivered by Adam Mueller, a 19 year NLL veteran and the only coach in league history to bring three separate teams to the playoffs. Coach Mueller is well known for his ability to break down skills and develop talent from youth players to the pros. Other coaches are: Bob DiIonno &Mike McGuane.

Summer Tournaments
The inaugural boys’ F4 PHILLY KICKOFF CLASSIC, presented by the people that brought you the F4 Showbine®, will take place on the south campus of West Chester University, June 14-15. The venue features three turf fields and seven immaculate grass fields and is easily accessible from all destinations with ample free parking. The championship format tournament will feature A and B brackets for High School through U13. U11 and U9 teams will be competitively matched based on coaches’ evaluations of the teams. All teams are guaranteed four games. Many top programs from around the nation have already committed, setting up for great competition. Boys Summer Slam Lacrosse Tournament, by the Pattison Sports Group. Will be held June 21-22, 2014 at The Westtown School, Bayard Rustin High School and West Chester United Soccer Complex in West Chester. The Summer Slam is a youth, middle school and high school boy’s lacrosse tournament featuring teams from across the country. In 2013, the tourney drew more than 225 teams from 19 states play in a championship format with each team guaranteed four games. Tournament registration as well as additional Summer Slam information can be found at www.VictoryEventSeries.com.High School divisions will include “A” and “AA” for 2015, 2016 and 2017. Youth divisions include “A” and “B” for 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2013.
