Hannah Cowan (Ursuline Academy) and Erin Eckert each registered a hat trick in their first college game, and Nicole Pyle (Henderson) posted four points to lead third-ranked West Chester to a 20-3 win over visiting Fort Lewis (Colo.) on an overcast, cold and windy Thursday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.
West Chester (1-0) scored the first six goals of the game and controlled the tempo from the outset in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Fort Lewis (3-2) ended the six-goal run 13 minutes into the contest, and then tacked on a couple at the end of the game, after the outcome was already decided.
Thirteen different players registered a goal and everybody got into the game for the Golden Rams. Cowan’s three tallies all came in the first half while Eckert scored the final goal of the first half and the first goal of the second half, before adding another midway through the final period.
Jamie Dolan, Brittany Long (Henderson) and Pyle each scored twice. Dolan added an assist for a three-point afternoon. Tori Dugan (Bayard Rustin) scored a goal and dished out two assists.
Jess Henderson (Henderson) made five saves in 48 minutes of action. Kelsey Sward (Bayard Rustin) entered and played the final 12 minutes, making three saves.
York 12, Ursinus 4
Devin Brakel scored twice for Ursinis in its opener.
Haverford College 14, York 8
Dan LoSardo had four goals and an assist and Christian Clay (Lawrenceville School) had three goals and two assists as the Fords (1-2) won their first game and handed York (3-1) its first defeat.
Eric Caliendo had 14 saves for Haverford while Henry Millson and Jack Bodine each scored twice.
Chris Varela (Easton) scored twice for York and defenseman Josh Kluver (Abington) had two groundballs.
Albright 20, Immaculata 9
Phil Potter had three goals and two assists to lead Albright.
Ben Tuscai (West Chester East) paced the Mighty Macs (1-2) with six points on two goals and four assists, while Bhelly Bagbonon (Conestoga) led the squad with three goals.
