The Princeton women’s lacrosse team has clinched a spot in the 2013 Ivy League Tournament with an 11-9 win over Harvard on Saturday, at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium. The No. 16-ranked Tigers improve to 8-4 overall and 5-0 in the league.
Junior Mary-Kate Sivilli paced the Tigers with a four-point game on three goals and an assist. Senior Sam Ellis (Radnor) had a hat trick and sophomore Erin McMunn scored twice and added an assist. Junior goalie Caroline Franke made 10 saves in her seventh win of the season.
American 15, Lafayette 11
Addie Godfrey had four goals and Ana White (Strath Haven) had three goals and two assists for the Leopards in the Patriot League loss.
Emily Maher (Pennridge) had two goals for American.
Rutgers 9, Villanova 6
Katrina Martinelli (Moorestown) had two goals and an assist and Halley Barnes (Garnet Valley) scored twice for Rutgers in the Big East win.
Jackie Froccaro and Maria Bowman each had two goals for Villanova.
Division II
Philadelphia 21, Nyack 3
Sixteen different players scored a goal as the Rams won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference’s (CACC) southern division with a win at Nyack.
The Rams improve to 10-4 overall and remain perfect in CACC play with an 8-0 mark. Nyack is now 0-9 overall, 0-8 in the CACC.
Freshman attack Liz Mower (Souderton Area) and junior midfielder Libby Nichols both recorded five points in the victory. Mower had three goals and two assists, while Nichols posted two goals, three assists, and five draw controls.
West Chester 21, Slippery Rock 4
Seniors Lauren Glassey (Henderson) and Jacquie Burke (Pennridge) each scored four goals, and classmate Tori Dugan (Bayard Rustin) scored three times and assisted on six others, as host West Chester defeated Slippery Rock, on Senior Day at Vonnie Gros Field.
West Chester (10-1, 7-0 PSAC) bounced back from its first defeat of the season and remained unbeaten in league play with the win over Slippery Rock (4-7, 1-6).
Division III
Cabrini 18, Centenary 2
The Cavaliers extended their win streak to seven games at Edith Robb Dixon Field. With the victory, the Blue and White remain perfect in the Colonial States Athletic Conference at 6-0 and improve to 7-5 overall.
The Cavaliers got significant offensive contributions from up and down the line-up as eight players found the back of the net. Freshman Nathalie Basunga (Springfield-Delco) led the attack with a career high five goals and matched a career best with seven points. Fellow rookie Katie Lasater (Great Valley) added four goals, while senior Christina Pasquariello (Harriton) tallied a career high four assists.
Franklin & Marshall 14, Swarthmore 9
No. 7 Franklin & Marshall handed Swarthmore a loss in the Centennial Conference despite three goals and three assists from Corinne Sommi. The Diplomats improved to 10-2, 5-0 CC while the Garnet dropped to 8-4, 2-3 CC.
Maggie Mae Shields (Baldwin School) went over the 100-point plateau with her first goal of the game and finished with two goals and an assist.
Immaculata 15, Gwynedd-Mercy 12
Danielle Lopez had four goals to lead the Mighty Macs to the CSAC win.
Dani Horn (North Penn) had four goals and two assists for Gwynedd Mercy.
Haverford College 21, Bryn Mawr 7
The Fords established a single-game program record with 16 in Centennial Conference action at Swan Field.
Registering four goals and two assists, Hanna Morgan tied her career high with six points on the day. Dayna Kim also scored four goals to establish a new career high while Diana Perry and Christina Gould added three goals apiece to aid the balanced attack.
Kathleen Magner led Bryn Mawr with four goals.
Arcadia 10, Wilkes 7
The Knights (9-4, 2-1 MFRE) six unanswered goals in the second half and turned a 6-4 defect into a win at Wilkes College. The Knights trailed 5-3 at the break, but won the second half by five goals. Dawn Faranetta scored four times for the Knights.
