Joe Mintzer

High School: Upper Merion High School

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Attack

College Choice: Catholic University

Club Affiliation: Team Philadelphia

Major lacrosse honors: All Suburban One Selection as Junior, Brine Pride of Pennsylvania Showcase, Varsity Captain as Junior/Senior

What will you major in/study? International Business

Why did you choose Catholic? “I knew Catholic was the right fit for me as soon as I got on campus. The campus feel and size were perfect for me.

“There are also great opportunities for jobs and internships in the DC area, which is great for me since I plan to study business.

“Once I met Coach (Brooks) Singer, I knew I did not want to play anywhere else. He and Coach (Dan) Ambrose made me feel so welcomed as soon as I stepped on campus. The coaches and team seem like a real family, and I’m looking forward to playing for them over the next four years.”

Outlook for your High School team? “We are a pretty young team, but our Juniors and Seniors have been stepping up through fall ball and winter league to help the freshmen and sophomores get up to speed.

“We’ve lost some talented players, but we still have a strong core with tons of upside. If the young guys can learn quickly and we play as a team, we can definitely make a run at the Suburban One American title.”

Thank You: “I’d like to give a big thanks to my High School coach, Brady McCormick, who helped me to go from a JV freshman to a varsity starter and captain.

“My family has also always been supportive of me, coming out to all my games whether it be a summer scrimmage or a playoff game.

“Lastly, I’d like to thank all my Upper Merion teammates, as I’ve played with some of them for eight years now, and we have all helped each other to improve and grow as players.”
