Penncrest rising senior face-off specialist-midfielder Dylan Protesto has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Hartford.
Dylan Protesto log:
High school: Penncrest High School
Year of graduation: 2014
Position: FO/midfield
College choice: University of Hartford
Club affiliation: NXT Lacrosse club
Lacrosse honors: Varsity since freshman year at Penncrest, Second team All Central for Fogo, Brine National Lacrosse Classic (All Star Game), Philly Showcase, Keystone Games gold medal 2012, Baltimore Summer Kickoff All Star Game 2013.
Intended major: Business management
Why did you choose Hartford? I chose The University of Hartford because it was academically a perfect fit and the campus was beautiful. On my visits to Hartford I was able to get a good vibe of the team, while being able to watch them practice. Coaches (Peter) Lawrence and (Jonathan) Basti run high intensity practices and get a lot accomplished. They also do a lot of fundraisers and community service to help out those in need and to spread the game of lacrosse. That was a big part of wanting to go to Hartford because I love helping out any community in anyway I can.”
Outlook for HS team in 2014: “Our (goal) for Penncrest next year is (to win) a Central League championship and to go far into states. We are working harder then ever this year and plan to enter a few summer tournaments and have more intense practices next season.”
Other comments: “I would like to thank all of my Coches from NXT, Marty Kupprion, Brett Manney, Mike Avato and Warren Danenza; my high school coaches, Wayne Matsinger, Evan Pettit, and Scott Rumford; and my parents for always being there at all my lacrosse events and providing me with whatever I needed for lacrosse. Also, I would like to thank my mentor, a Penncrest alumni and current Hartford Hawk, Adam Yee, for helping me through the process and training me during the off season. I wouldn’t be where I am now without all of these people and I can’t thank them enough.”
