Central Bucks South junior midfielder Jake Henze has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Monmouth University.
Jake Henze log:
High school: Central Bucks South High School
Graduation year: 2015
Position: Midfield
College choice: Monmouth University
Club affiliation: Twist
Major lacrosse honors, camps and showcases: Freshman & sophomore varsity starter, Co-captain as a sophomore; Philly Showcase (2012 and 2013); Loyola Shootout All-Star; Summer Slam All-Star; Tri-State finalist; Best of the Best finalist; Hot Beds finalist; Top 205
What will you major in/study: Criminal Justice
Why did you choose school: “I really liked the layout, size and location of the campus and the fact that it offered my major. It’s exciting that Monmouth lacrosse is a new D1 program and that the team will have to prove itself to everyone. The team will be an underdog in the beginning, similar to my high school team the past two years; and I will fit in well. I also like the Monmouth coaching staff (Coach Fisher, Coach Geison, Coach McCutcheon) who all made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire recruiting process.”
Outlook for your high school team: “I am very excited for this year and I know the rest of the team is too. Last year our team made it into the second round of the District One playoffs for the first time in CB South’s history, which was huge. I know everyone on the team is ready to work hard and win even more games this year – it should be a great season.”
Other comments: “I’d first like to thank my parents and family as well as my teammates because without all of their support and help I wouldn’t be where I am today.
“Thank you to my youth coaches from CBAA who were there when I first started learning the game (Brian Vetter, Dan Brown, Paul McGovern, Brad Ament).
“I would also like to thank my CB South High School coaches for all of their help (Mike Sharman, Chris Mohapp, Scott Jones, Mike Strayline).
“A special thank you to Coach Vetter for being a great youth/club coach and keeping all the boys together on our Twist 2015 team – also for teaching me the right way to play the game from the beginning.
“Thanks to Mr. Eveland and Mr. Bala for their help and support on the sidelines during our Twist games.
“Lastly and most importantly, I would like to thank my father, Steve Henze, for being a coach on all of my teams and pushing me to do better through all these years of lacrosse. You have always been there and helped me through everything and you’ve done more than anyone could ever ask for.”
