More than 80 college coaches are expected Sunday when a record 24 teams will compete at Radnor High in the annual Quaker Fall LaxFest, one of the nation’s top Fall club tournaments for recruiting.
This year’s field will include 10 teams from Philly – Duke’s L.C. Blue and White, HEADstrong Elite, Phillie Elite (formerly LB3) 2015, Mesa Fresh 2015, Mesa Fresh 2016, NXT 2015, NXT 2016, ManUp and Twist 2015 as well as Leading Edge 2015 and 2016 and Tri-State from South/Central Jersey.
Also in the field are Long Island’s FLG, Long Island Express, Long Island Sting and Long Island Outlaws, New England Storm 2016, Building Blocks 2016 (N.J.), the RoadHawks 2015 (Upstate NY), SweetLax (Upstate NY) 2016, MaxLax (MD/VA) 2015, CT Chargers 2016 and the Virginia Lacrosse Club (VLC) 2015.
“The tourney has grown slightly while keeping a local and national flavor at the same time,” said tourney do-director John Begier. “We want to run a high quality event for the players, college coaches, and the lacrosse community.”
Each team will play three 55-minute games with PA high school rules. Teams will be allowed one 30 second timeout per half, but the game clock will not stop. There will not be an overtime if a game ends in a tie.
The format is round-robin. Six fields will be utilized – two are turf and four are natural grass.
