Philly grads help Maryland open with 23-6 rout of Mount St. Mary’s

Numerous Philly grads made contributions to lead the No. 2 University of Maryland men’s lacrosse team to a 23-6 victory over visiting Mount St. Mary’s in its 2013 season opener at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

The 23 goals scored were the most for the Terps (1-0) since March 21, 1995 when they beat Radford 26-3.

Tyler Brooke (Conestoga) scored two goals while Owen Blye (Downingtown East) and Bradlee Lord (Conestoga) each had a goal and an assist for the Terrapins.

On defense, Foran Murray (Haverford School) has two groundballs and two caused turnovers and fellow starter Casey Ikeda (Conestoga) had two groundballs while goalie Niko Amato (La Salle) had eight saves and allowed five goals.

Dan Stranix (Ridley) had an assist and two groundballs for the Mount.
