Following the evaluation sessions, Mesa Fresh will begin selecting top caliber players for its 2018 and 2019 teams. Each team anticipates playing in two or three tournaments in the summer of 2014 against other very competitive club teams from across the country.
Players will be selected based on their demonstrated mastery of fundamental skills, lacrosse IQ, game performance, character and contributions to their youth teams. All players attending the evaluations must have a recommendation from their youth coach or coaches.
Paul O’Grady and Scott Gabrielsen will be the Mesa Fresh 2018 coaches. Pat Carney will be the Mesa Fresh 2019 coach.
“The evaluations will focus on the critical lacrosse skills and concepts the coaches believe are essential to successfully competing at the high school level and beyond,” said O’Grady, Head Coach of Mesa Fresh 2018.
“Our coaching and playing style is a ‘We’ not ‘Me’ based approach and we look forward to meeting some of the best players in the area,” said Gabrielsen.

Gabrielsen will partner with his former Wings teammate to round out the Mesa Fresh 2018 Coaching Staff. Gabrielsen’s recent coaching success has been leading West Chester Youth Lacrosse where he helped guide the 2012 West Chester U13 A team to CCLA Championship and most recently the West Chester U15 A team to the 2013 CCLA Championship.
Carney, another former Wing and recent inductee into the PA Lacrosse Hall of Fame, has been coaching area youth, high school and college lacrosse for the past 20+ years and spent the past five years coaching the very successful Mesa Fresh 2014 team.
