From Press Release

Lehigh sophomore goalie Matt Poillon has garnered the Patriot League’s Goalie of the Week award after stopping eight of nine shots sent his way in Sunday’s season opener against Saint Joseph’s. This marks the seventh career weekly award for the All-American netminder after earning Goalie of the Week four times as a freshman along with two Rookie of the Week honors.

Poillon made eight saves in Sunday’s 14-1 win, including some highlight-reel stops. He made five saves in the first half to keep Lehigh up 5-0, and then added three in the second. He played the first 54:41 before being relieved by freshman Steve Brodeur.

Seniors David DiMaria and Ryan Snyder, and junior Ty Souders also earned honorable mention recognition on the Patriot League Weekly honor roll. DiMaria carried the offense with a career-high six goals (along with one assist), posting a hat trick in each half. Souders posted a groundball and two caused turnovers, anchoring a defense which held Saint Joseph’s to a single goal. Snyder was stellar at the faceoff X, winning 14-of-17 with seven groundballs while scoring a fourth-quarter goal as well.

Lehigh returns to action next Saturday at Villanova, who’s first in “others receiving votes” in both the national coaches and media polls.
