Longstreth girls’ recruit: Agnes Irwin 2014 DEF-MF Pergolini signs with Virginia Commonwealth

Agnes Irwin School senior defense-midfielder Morgan Pergolini has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Defense/Midfield

College Choice: Virginia Commonwealth University (new Division I program starts play in 2015)

Club Affiliation: Phantastix Lacrosse

Major lacrosse honors: Under Armour Underclassmen Uncommitted Games 2013, Lacrosse Captain (senior year)

What will you major in/study? Nursing

Why did you choose VCU? “VCU has everything I was looking for in a school. As soon as I saw the campus I knew I wanted to be part of the community. I believe there will be numerous opportunities for me to grow as an athlete and student at VCU. I can’t wait to be a Ram!”

Outlook for your High School team? “I think this is going to be a very successful year for Agnes Irwin lacrosse. We have so much talent and potential. I believe our strong team chemistry is going to help us achieve our goals for the season.”

Additional Comments: “I want to thank my parents for encouraging me and pushing me to be the best I can be. They have spent so many hours in the car driving me to games, practices, and tournaments. They helped me turn my dream into reality.

“I would also like to thanks my Phantastix coaches Lorraine Beers, Jen Corcoran, JoAnn Yusko, and Sue Frazier. Without them I would not have thought playing in college was a possibility for me.

“A huge thank you goes to my High School coaches. Thank you to Michelle Kane for all of the help and support, and Jen Duckenfield for pushing me to be a better player and helping me with the recruiting process.

“Finally, I would like to thank all of my teammates. They are a huge part of why I fell in love with the sport, and they have been a constant source of support. Without them I would not be the player I am today.”
