Alexandra Silvera tallied four goals and Taryn Gallagher had three goals and an assist as visiting Episcopal Academy defeated Penn Charter, 14-10, today to clinch outright its ninth straight Inter-Ac League girls’ lacrosse championship.
EA improved to 10-0 in the league and 11-3 overall.
“We are thrilled to have earned the title again as this is the fourth year in a row for the seniors,” said EA coach Amandsa Vos Strache, who has been the head coach the past two years. “The success is well deserved by this senior class, whose leadership on and off the field was incredible this season.
“These girls are true leaders in scholarship, character and athleticism and the pride they have in Episcopal as a school and the lacrosse program is unmatched. I am so proud of this entire team and most proud that they earned the title through a superior work ethic and working each day as a team.”
MC Curran added two goals and an assist and Emma Brumbaugh scored twice while Schuyler Aitken contributed a goal and four assists for EA. Lindsey Reder made 12 saves and her defense caused eight turnovers.
“The defense stepped up all over,” said Vos Strache. “PC played a very strong game against us, shutting down many of our shots and offensive opportunities.”
Avery Shoemaker and Kelly Kubach each had three goals for the Quakers (6-8, 4-7).
