Taryn Deck had seven goals and an assist and notched the game-winner in overtime as host Archbishop Carroll earned a thrilling 17-16 victory over Boyertown in a girls’ game involving two teams ranked by Phillylacrosse.com.
The 13th-ranked Patriots improved to 5-3 while the eighth-ranked Bears suffered their first loss, falling to 8-1.
Deck won the game in sudden-death OT on an 8-meter, after first failing to score on another 8-meter while getting fouled. She had a chance to win the game just before the end of regulation on yet another 8-meter, but the shot was stopped by Katie Buckwalter.
Natalie Schmitt had five goals and an assist for the Pats and Margaret Filipelli contributed three goals and an assist while Isabelle Schmitt scored twice.
Rachel Engler led Boyertown with five goals and an assist and Haley Wentzel also scored five goals while Kait DeHaven had two goals and three assists and Alex O’Herrick had two goals and two assists.
