The Mesa Fresh 2017 team made its debut as a club team last week by winning its division at the Hero’s Lacrosse Tournament held at the Line Road Complex in Malvern.
Mesa Fresh finished 4-0, downing Prospects Lacrosse Club, 12-2, then defeated Team 302, 14-1, and finishing pool play with a convincing win over True Blue 13-2. In the finals game Mesa 2017 beat Maryland Showcase, 15-1. The Mesa team is made up with Philly-based players from Episcopal Academy, Haverford School, Conestoga, Springfield, Malvern Prep, Penncrest and others.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of other successful Mesa Fresh teams, the 2017 squad will continue its campaign with several tournaments in the fall and will beef up their schedule next summer.
The team was led by veteran coaches Roddy Marino, Bill Holmes and Perry O’Grady.
