Archbishop Carroll opened its girls’ lacrosse season Saturday by splitting in two games at the prestigious AmLax Tournament in St. Petersburg, Fla.
The patriots opened with a 17-12 victory over Oviedo (FL) and then fell to host Vero Beach (FL), 19-17, in overtime.
In the win over Oviedo, Natalie Schmitt (five goals, four assists) and sister Isabelle Schmitt (five goals) paced the offense and Meg Santoleri picked nine draw controls.
In the defeat to Florida power Vero Beach, Taryn Deck had seven goals and an assist and Natalie Schmitt had six goals and one assist while Margaret Filippelli collected one goal, five assists and six draw controls.
Archbishop Carroll forced overtime by scoring the final two goals of regulation, the last with just over 2 minutes to play, but Vero Beach outscored the Pats, 3-1, in overtime.
Katy Pridemore and Allie Modica had six goals and two assists apiece for Vero Beach, which also fell to undefeated Georgetown Visitation (DC), 18-17 on Saturday.
Oviedo is 8-3 and Vero Beach is 11-3.
