Cabrini College junior LSM Bill McCabe (@_billbobaggins_) was the winner Thursday night in the weekly Dick’s Sporting Goods $50 Coupon Trivia Question on @phillylacrosse.

McCabe was the first to answer the question: Which two Philly area men’s college D1 teams are among the 14 in nation that have 500 career wins?

Princeton ha 647 wins (8th overall) and started its program in 1881. The Tigers, who have won 14 national titles overall, won their first Intercollegiate Lacrosse League (national) title in 1883 (three-way tie with Harvard and Yale) and outright in 1984.

Also from Philly, Lehigh launched its program in 1885 and has won 519 games. Six years later Lehigh won the national title and its success was largely credited to Arnold K. Reese, Class of 1889, who captained and trained the team in his illustrious career. (from Lehigh’s Epitome: Yearbook 1886 (Volume: 10)

McCabe, a former selection from Spring-Ford, was a standout on the Cavs’ team that reached the NCAA Division III quarterfinals last year and won its 11th straight CSAC championship.

Also, Rutgers – just slightly out of our coverage area – is ninth with 557 wins. It started lax in 1887.

The runner-up for the @Dicks contest was Wissahickon senior LSM Will Clements, who won the last two weeks. His Twitter handle is @da_pipelayer.

Third place went to Downingtown East sophomore MF Dylan Rittenhouse, also of the Philadelphia Freedom. His handle is @dm_rittenhouse.
