The Class of 2017 features three All-America selections, six all-state honorees, nine all-conference performers and includes a balanced mix of three attackmen, four midfielders, three defensemen and one goalkeeper. Additionally, the incoming freshmen class features nine multi-sport athletes while all 11 have earned academic honors during their high school careers.
Joining the Wildcats this fall are JP Campbell (Chatham, N.J./Delbarton), Austin Frederick (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh School), Nate Gorman (Sewell, N.J./St. Augustine Prep), Owen Hewes (Chatham, N.J./Chatham), Devin McNamara (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield), Kurtis Naslonski (Randolph, N.J./Randolph), Danny O’Connell (Sands Point, N.Y./Chaminade/Westminster), Danny Sweeney (Glenelg, Md./McDonogh School), Nick Tortoriello (Stockton, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional), Michael Waterfield (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville), and Dan Willis (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown).
“Our coaching staff is extremely excited to welcome the Class of 2017 to the Villanova Lacrosse family and university community,” Corrado states. “Each one of these student-athletes is exceptional both on the field and in the classroom and we’re looking forward to their arrival on campus in August.”
Sewell, N.J./St. Augustine Prep
Defense – 6’0”, 190 lbs.
St. Augustine Prep: Earned four varsity letters under head coach JC Valore and served as a team captain during his senior season… Collected 36 ground balls in 2013… Helped lead the squad to a Non-Public A NJSIAA State Championship berth in 2010 and 2011… Named a 2013 US Lacrosse All-American… Selected to the 2012 and 2013 Honorable Mention New Jersey No-Public All-State Team… Named a 2012 Under Armour Underclassmen All-American… Played club lacrosse for South Shore for four years… Member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society… Earned Dean and President’s Honors.
Goalkeeper – 5’11”, 170 lbs.
Moorestown: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Baron Wallenhurst, where he tallied a 41-16 overall record… Posted a 16-3 overall record during his senior season, where his save percentage was recorded at 69%… Posted a 70% career save percentage… Tallied a career-high 24 saves vs. Haverford School in 2011… Led Moorestown to a state championship during the 2011 season as a sophomore… Named a 2012 and 2013 all-state selection… Earned 2012 and 2013 First Team All-Group 3 laurels… Named a 2011, 2012 and 2013 First Team All-Burlington Country honoree… 2013 First Team All-Conference selection… Earned 2012 Honorable Mention All-Conference honors… Named to the 2011 Under Armour Underclassmen New Jersey Team as a sophomore… Member of the Tri State Lacrosse Club… Received the Top Goalie Award as a Project Nine player… Also lettered in football as a wide receiver and lineman… Named both a lacrosse and football scholar-athlete all four years of high school.
Midfield – 6’0”, 180 lbs.
Delbarton: Earned two varsity letters under head coach Chuck Ruebling… Played club lacrosse for the Patriot Lacrosse club for six years… Also earned three varsity letters in football… Served as the student body president and was a high honors student.
Baltimore, Md./McDonogh School
Midfield – 5’10”, 180 lbs.
McDonogh: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Andy Hilgartner, where he posted 32 goals and 17 assists during his senior season… Netted six goals in an overtime victory over St. Paul’s to help clinch a first round bye in conference playoffs… Named to the 2013 All-Metro team and was a 2013 All-MIAA “A” Conference selection during his senior season… Was the team scoring leader in both 2012 and 2013… 2012 C. Markland Kelly nominee and second team All-Metro selection… Named to the 2012 Under Armour Underclassmen team… Was a member of the FCA U15 National Championship team in 2010… Also lettered in soccer as a midfielder and striker… Member of the Honor Roll and Dean’s List.
Defense – 6’1”, 180 lbs.
Chatham: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Calandra playing defense and long-stick midfield… Named the 2011 Most Improved Player as a sophomore.
Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield
Attack – 5’8”, 160 lbs.
Loyola Blakefield: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Jack Crawford, serving as a team captain during his senior season… Tallied 43 goals and 49 assists during his senior season and had a career total of 117 goals and 99 assists for 216 career points… Led Loyola Blakefield to the 2013 MIAA “A” Conference Championship title… Was a 2013 C. Markland Kelly Award finalist… Named a 2013 All-MIAA “A” Conference selection and Baltimore Sun First Team All-Metro honoree… 2013 Maryland State Lacrosse Coaches Association Senior All-Star… Named the 2013 Towson Times Co-Player of the Year and First Team All-Star… 2013 Team MVP… 2012 Baltimore Sun First Team All-Metro selection… 2012 Towson Times Second Team All-Star… Named the 2012 Loyola Blakefield Offensive MVP… Played club lacrosse for the Greene Turtle Lacrosse Club and GotSkillz Lacrosse Club… Also lettered in volleyball where he served as a team captain and earned all-conference laurels… First Honors student.

Randolph: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Luke Mason, where he tallied 49 goals and 19 assists during his senior season… Also earned one varsity letter under head coach Stephen Belderes at the North Cross School (Va.)… Posted a career total of 222 goals and 73 assists for 295 points… Named a 2013 Third Team All-State honoree… Earned 2013 First Team Waterman Division laurels… Selected for the 2013 Gil-Gibbs All-Star game… Named a 2012 First Team VIC Division and First Team VISAA All-State selection… Named the 2012 South West Va LA Player of the Year and was a First Team honoree… 2012 VIC All-Tournament Team selection… 2012 Team MVP… Earned 2011 First Team Waterman Division laurels, Second Team All-State honors and was a First Team All-Sophomore New Jersey selection… Named the Most Promising Newcomer award and was selected for the Garden State Challenge North III Team in 2010… Played club lacrosse for Patriot Elite, where they earned 133 wins and 18 tournament championships in eight years… Also lettered in football… Member of the Honor Roll.

Attack – 6’3”, 180 lbs.
Chaminade/Westminster: Earned three varsity letters under head coaches Jack Moran and Peter Newman… Graduated from Chaminade and spend a post-grad year at Westminster… Tallied 52 goals and 49 assists for 101 career points… Posted 26 goals and 37 assists during his post-grad year at Westminster… Named the 2012 Most Improved Player… Also lettered in basketball… Member of the National Honor Society.
Glenelg, Md./McDonogh School
Defense – 6’4”, 205 lbs.
McDonogh: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Andy Hilgartner… Named a 2013 Under Armour All-American… Named a 2013 All-MIAA “A” Conference selection… Chosen as a Top 205 All-Star… Selected as the Best Male Athlete of the 2013 McDonogh graduating class… Named a 2012 NSCLA All-American… Played club lacrosse for the Maryland Roughriders… Also lettered in water polo and basketball.
Stockton, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional
Midfield – 6’0”, 175 lbs.
Hunterdon Central Regional: Earned three varsity letters under head coach Mike Veralito… Tallied 101 career points and 54 ground balls during his four year high school career… Named a 2013 First Team All-State and First Team All-Skyland Conference selection… Chosen as a 2012 Honorable Mention All-State and Second Team All-Skyland Conference honoree… Played club lacrosse for Leading Edge and helped the team to the 2012 MVP and NSCLA Tournament Championships… Also lettered in football where he was a strong safety… Member of the Principal’s Honor Roll… Earned the Hunterdon/Warren Scholar-Athlete award and World Language Department award… Was a part of the “People to People” Student Ambassador program in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Midfield – 6’0”, 180 lbs.
Somerville: Earned four varsity letters under head coach Gilman Eaton, where he posted 107 goals and 34 assists for 141 career points while serving as a team captain… Also collected 290 career ground balls… Recorded the most goals scored for a midfielder in a single season and career at Somerville… Named a 2013 US Lacrosse Academic All-American… Two-time Second Team All-State selection in 2012 and 2013… Chosen to the First Team Skyland Conference team in 2011, 2012 and 2013… Named a 2012 and 2013 First Team Bianchi Curcio Division selection… 2013 Gill Gibbs All-Star Team member… Named a 2012 Under Armour All-American… Chosen as a member of the 2011 Garden State Challenge Team… Selected as a 2010 Jake Reed Nike Blue Chip… Participated in the 2010 and 2011 Top 205 Showcase… Played club lacrosse for 2 Knights Lacrosse from 2008-2012, where he served as a team captain… Also played for Leading Edge Lacrosse in 2010… Also lettered in football and basketball where he was a quarterback, safety and shooting guard… Member of the National Honor Society, Honor Roll and was a Student Council Senator… Also was a Pear Leadership Mentor and participated in the Harvard University Leadership Summit.
