Luke Gomez and Zach Scannapieco both had two goals and an assist to lead host Wissahickon to a 7-1 victory Thursday over neighboring Germantown Academy for the first time in 19 years in boys’ lacrosse.

Wissahickon (4-2) broke a close 3-0 halftime lead open in the third quarter with goals from Gomez, John Carrozza (1g, 1a), Jack Shea, and Nate DeGroat.
Many of the players know each other and have played on the same township team growing up.

Wissahickon junior Gomez said, “It feels great. We had some guys down with injury, but really wanted to come out fired up and play hard. GA has had our number for the past couple of years so this was big.”

Garrett Trucksess scored for GA.

This marks the second game in a row that Wissahickon ended a streak. On Tuesday night the Trojans (2-1 league) handed Plymouth Whitemarsh their first Suburban One American loss after 29 straight wins.

The Trojans defense has played solid in both wins with goalie Tyler Freas leading the way (six saves).
