From Press Release
3D MVP Lacrosse is a new lacrosse videogame headed to mobile devices by way of an indie game company’s community fundraising campaign. If the funding goal is reached, the game is planned for a Spring 2014 release on iOS and Android phones and tablets.
“Lacrosse is an amazing sport that still hasn’t reached its potential in videogames,” said Murray Taylor, the company’s president. “But finding interest from big game publishers has been tough, so we decided to start on our own, beginning with a high quality mobile game.”
Currently in development, 3D MVP Lacrosse’s central gameplay puts you and a teammate against two defensemen and a goalie over a series of short matches.
“We’ve made some great progress, and know where we want to take it, but funding the whole game is a big risk for us,” said Taylor. “This Kickstarter campaign can reduce that risk dramatically, and lets us focus on making a really great game.”
Taylor’s company is Maryland-based Digital Steamworks, a team of videogame industry veterans who founded the group in 2003 after working together at Atari, Hasbro and MicroProse.
“We’ve all worked on award winning products,” said Taylor, “and with the community’s support, know that we can do something really special for lacrosse.”
The campaign’s backers will receive rewards like the finished game, their name in the credits, and their likeness in the finished game as a computer-controlled player.
