Jason Yoquinto log:
High School: Bishop Shanahan, PA
Graduation Year: 2016
College Choice: United States Naval Academy
Club Affiliation: Duke’s Lacrosse Club
Major lacrosse honors, All-Star teams, Camps, Showcases: Brine National All Stars, Big 4 Invitational Showcase All Stars. Made High School Varsity Lacrosse Team Freshmen year, Nike Blue-Chip
What will you major in/study? Interested in Political Science and possibly going into Law someday.
Why did you choose the school? “My parents and I visited a lot of great schools and met with more than a dozen fantastic coaches during the process. Each school we looked at offered a great education and a chance to be part of a top lacrosse program. But when I visited the Naval Academy there was something different about it (not just because everyone was in uniform). Coach (Rick) Sowell and Coach (Ryan) Wellner made me feel at home and opened my eyes to something unique. The Naval Academy was something more than a great school and great lacrosse program… it was the opportunity of a life time, it was a chance to do something extraordinary and more challenging then I had ever dreamed of. I always dreamed of playing lacrosse at a great D1 level school, now my dreams got whole lot bigger. I’ll be getting one of the top educations in the country, be part of an amazing lacrosse program, and afterwards I’ll have the chance to travel the world and serve my country.”
What is your team’s outlook for next season? “I think Shanahan will do be very successful this year. We have a lot of really talented players returning. The whole team is dedicated and ready to go. It is great to be a part of it. We are going to do huge things this year. I fully expect that we will make a run for states this season.”
Other comments: “First off I want to thank my family. My Mom, who drove me all over the country so I could play and who is my biggest supporter. My Dad, who had to have shot at least one million balls at me over the years. Both my brothers, William and Logan, for shooting on me when my Dad’s arm would give out, for working on clears with me for hours at a time and for spending so many hot summer afternoons practicing with me in the backyard while everyone else was in the pool. Thanks guys.
“I would like to thank all the coaches I’ve met along the way. I have always been so lucky to run into the best coaches. The coaches at the Duke’s Lacrosse Club, Coach Ebe Helm and Coach Jason Christmas for all the work they put into me and for all their guidance during the recruiting process. As well as the other Duke’s Coaches, Chris Fallon, Joe Vetrone, Ryan Sankey, Evan Bohner and Bruce Vosburgh. Also, I would like thank the Triple H coaches for guiding me to the next level, Billy McKinney, Eric Gregg and Johnny Christmas. I would like to thank my high school coaches John Heisman and Paul Myers for continuing developing me into a better player and fiercer competitor.
“A special thanks, to my goalie coach Brian Kilpatrick, for continuing to take me to new levels. Next I would like to thank my youth coaches at Twin Valley, Andrew Fader, Greg Knapp, and Dan Krick.
“And last but not least I would like to thank the Smalls, Kacy Small for lighting the fire and all the work he did with me with the 380 Lacrosse Club and to Coach Kurt Small for giving me the most important thing… a love for the game.
Other schools considered? Providence, University of Maryland, Villanova, Ohio State, Notre Dame
