St. Anne’s-Belfield School (VA) sophomore attackman Phillip Robertson, who plays for the Duke’s Lacrosse Club, has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of North Carolina.

U.S. Lacrosse All-American, 1st team All-Region, 1st team All-District, 1st team All-SWLA, Offensive MVP at Salem High School (Salem, Va.). Attended Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip, Fall Terrapin Classic, Quaker Laxfest, and UPLax this fall with Duke’s LC.

Academic honors: Junior Honor Association, Latin Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose the school?
“I chose North Carolina because of the outstanding balance of academics and lacrosse. The location and size of the school made it a great fit for me. Coach (Joe) Breschi and the entire coaching staff made me feel welcomed as soon as I stepped on campus for my visit. The emphasis Coach Breschi puts on family and academics, along with lacrosse is extremely important to me.”

What is your team’s outlook for next season? We should have a stronger team this year than last year. We have great team chemistry, and our goal is to reach the state championship.”

Other comments: “I would like to thank Coach Ebe Helm, Coach Jason Christmas and the entire Duke’s Lacrosse coaching staff for their mentorship and guidance. I would also like to thank Coach Bo Perriello, Coach Nate Rullman, Coach Hunter Price and the rest of the St. Anne’s-Belfield lacrosse coaching staff. Also, I would like to thank my former coaches, Coach David Turk, Coach Drew Bowers, Coach Steve Mason and Coach Mike Brightwell. A special thanks to all my teammates from Salem High School and to all of my current teammates at St. Anne’s. Lastly, I would like to thank my parents for their dedication and support for me to play lacrosse and my brothers Matt, Ian and Joe for helping me grow to be a better person and lacrosse player.”
